Anne et Patrick Poirier sont des pionniers de la création en couple, à l'instar de Gilbert et Georges. Depuis 50 ans, leur oeuvre interroge le souvenir des civilisations dont, en « architectes-archéologues », ils ne cessent de témoigner métaphoriquement de la fragilité. Leurs maquettes monumentales donnent au début des années 1970 un signal d'audace et de liberté qui a agrandi le territoire de l'art et ouvert de nouveaux horizons. Cette monographie, élaborée avec la complicité des artistes, retrace leur parcours, en s'efforçant de rendre intelligible une oeuvre polymorphe, complexe et visionnaire.

Anne and Patrick Poirier pioneered the model of collaborative artist couples like Gilbert et Georges. For the past fifty years, the work of these « architect-archeologists » has never ceased to ponder the memory of civilizations, to witness metaphorically the fragility of the world. In the early 1970s, their enormous architectural models conveyed a sign of boldness, a freedom that opened up new artistic territories and created new horizons. This monograph, designed in collaboration with the artists, retraces their journey, in so doing underlining the threads that tie together their complex, multifaceted and visionary oeuvre.
