Ce carnet reproduit des aquarelles de champignons réalisées par la mycologue autodidacte M. F. Lewis, dont nous ne savons à peu près rien. Ils sont tirés de Fungi Collected in Shropshire and Other Neighbourhoods (3 volumes, 1860-1902), un recueil d'une centaine de feuilles présentant l'immense variété de spécimens de sa région anglaise des West Midlands, identifiés, répertoriés et représentés avec autant d'art que de précision scientifique.
This notebook reproduces the watercolours of mushrooms made by the self-taught mycologist Miss M. F. Lewis, about whom we know next to nothing. They are taken from Fungi Collected in Shropshire and Other Neighbourhoods (3 volumes, 1860-1902), a collection of a hundred sheets presenting the immense variety of specimens from her English region of the West Midlands, identified, listed and represented with as much art as scientific precision.
