Theorem is an association bringing together 24 European theatres and festivals directors - Austrian, Belgian, British, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian and Swedish - with the aim of discovering, promoting and supporting young creative talent in theatre and choreography in Central and Eastern Europe.
This book introduces the reader, through articles and interviews, to those involved in Theorem, and at the same time sets out the project's activities, artistic implications and underlying political foundations. A pilot project that will continue to deliver results.
Theorem est une association qui regroupe aujourd'hui vingt-quatre directeurs de théâtres et de festivals européens - allemands, autrichiens, belges, britanniques, danois, finlandais, français, hollandais, italiens, suédois - désireux de découvrir, promouvoir et soutenir la jeune création théâtrale et chorégraphique en Europe centrale et orientale.
Au détour d'entretiens et d'articles, cet ouvrage présente les différents acteurs impliqués dans cette aventure ; il rend compte de l'action concrète de Theorem, de ses enjeux artistiques et des conceptions politiques qui la sous-tendent. Un projet pilote qui entend bien poursuivre son cours.
The Festival d'Avignon played a key role in launching Theorem in 1999. Since then, the association has been able to grow with the support of the European Commission.
Over the past three years, Theorem has co-produced and hosted some twenty productions - from Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia - developed training sessions and helped to further artistic exchange.
Née en 1999 sous l'impulsion du Festival d'Avignon, l'association a pu se développer grâce au soutien de la Commission Européenne.
En trois ans, Theorem a coproduit et accueilli une vingtaine de spectacles - de Bulgarie, Estonie, Hongrie, Lettonie, Lituanie, Macédoine, Pologne, Roumanie, Russie, Yougoslavie -, conçu des stages de formation et encouragé des échanges artistiques.
