Ce livre est le témoignage de trente années de création et de passion pour l'architecture. Il commence en 1986, au moment où Michel Kagan crée l'agence à Paris, à son retour des États-Unis. Depuis, l'agence Kagan architectures s'est illustrée dans le domaine du logement social, de la maison individuelle, ainsi que des équipements publics.
Le livre montre les projets réalisés, mais aussi, les projets non construits qui ont servis de terrain d'expérimentation, et présentent des richesses spatiales peu communes qui méritent d'être connus. Il met en lumière, de manière didactique, l'importance du travail de Michel Kagan et présente les projets réalisés après sa disparition en 2009 avec l'architecte Nathalie Régnier-Kagan, son épouse et associée.
Préfacé par Jean Mas, l'ouvrage est introduit et dirigé par Nathalie Régnier-Kagan et réunit des textes de Jean-Louis Cohen, de Kenneth Frampton, de Franco Purini, ainsi que des entretiens avec Laurent Salomon, Bernard Desmoulin, Laurent Beaudouin et Norbert Laurent.
This book bears witness to 30 years of creation and passion for architecture that began in 1986 when Michel Kagan created his agency in Paris on his return from the United States. Since then, the Kagan Architectures agency has revealed its capacities in the fields of social housing, single family homes and public amenities.
As well as showing projects that have been built, the book also reveals those that have remained on the drawing board which have served as fields of experimentation and present a unique spatial vibrancy that merits being better known.
Taking a didactic approach, the book develops the importance of the work carried out by Michel Kagan and also presents projects completed after his death in 2009 by the architect Nathalie Régnier-Kagan, his wife and associate. Prefaced by Jean Mas, the book is introduced and organised by Nathalie Régnier-Kagan.
It assembles articles by Jean-Louis Cohen, Kenneth Frampton and Franco Purini, as well as interviews with Laurent Salomon, Bernard Desmoulin, Laurent Beaudouin and Norbert Laurent.
