En 1982, notre père nous avait demandé - à mon frère, ma soeur et moi - de choisir un tirage noir et blanc d'une de ses photographies pour notre cadeaux de noël. Deux touaregs allongés dans le désert du Sahara, des gitans jouant de la guitare sous le regard patient d'une jeune fille, un portrait de Thelonious Monk, un autre de Gaston Bachelard... mais mon choix est allé vers cette image; cet homme allongé dans les rues de New York et ces deux mots. En attendant le tirage definitif - jusqu'à cette année - j'ai fait de cette photographie une image mentale et une partie de ma philosophie.
In 1982, our father asked us - to my brother, my sister and I - to choose, as a Christmas gift, a black and white printing among one of his photographies. Two Touaregs, lying on the Sahara desert, gypsies playing guitar under the glance of an impatient young girl, a portrait of Thelonious Monk, another of Gaston Bachelard... but I finally chose this image: a man, lying on the streets of New York and these two words. Waiting for the final printing - until this year - I made of this photography a mental image and a part of my philosophy.
