Quatrième de couverture

The Dark Side of the Sun, interpreting the legend of the Sun King in sound and light, was first performed in Versailles in September 2007, then again in 2008. Instead of resurrecting history, it draws its inspiration from the long tradition of spectacular performances, firework displays and illuminations that first emerged in Versailles during the 17th century before the Chateau was even built.

This book tells of two adventures : the history of firework displays in Versailles, as created, experienced and recounted in the 17th and 18th centuries, and also the story of The Dark Side of the Sun by Groupe F, renowned for their pyrotechnic displays the world over.
