Château des ducs de Bretagne
Musée d'histoire de Nantes
The architectural gem that is the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is over eight hundred years old. A symbol of the splendour of the last Montfort dynasty, François II and Anne of Brittany, over the centuries the castle has undergone a number of transformations. It has suffered fortunes and misfortunes, welcomed a wide variety of guests, and has been used for some rather surprising functions. The castle has played host to kings, witnessed revolutions, undergone enemy occupation, falling into a state of disrepair before being restored to its former splendour. The Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is a proud witness to eight centuries of history.
Bertrand Guillet is the Director of the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany-Nantes History Museum.
