The Dynamics of Wolof Language
This book on Wolof language and culture is first of all a testimony of the passion of an intellectual for societal facts, in a quasi-daily and sustained quest for a Senegalese that claims to be like Wolof language itself, from all horizons, from all continents, as it is porous to all breathe streams.
In this book it is a matter of accounting for the dynamics of Wolof language, of its borrowings, of its diffusion and mostly the etymologies that are at times amazing and give this book a more poetic than scientific character.
Ahmed Khalifa Niasse has successively held the positions of Ambassador and Minister. He is currently the Chairman of a political party called the Presidium of the Front of Patriotic Alliances ; but he has after all an unquenchable curiosity for knowledge ; « he is an unconditional hunter of etymologies ». President Abdoulaye Wade says about the author that « he remains one of his advisers he listen to the most ». There is nothing surprising about that because the man is very resourceful with an immense culture hidden behind an easy-going look with a refined and delicate humoristic touch. This scholbar, in love with languages and everything that is source of spiritual wealth, is incredibly gifted with the charm and refinement of communicating easily with his fellows and be able to get to them emotionally.
