Mercedes Daguerre graduated in architecture at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice in 1985. She has been a lecturer and researcher at several European and American universities, and has various publications to her name on the history of contemporary architecture. She contributed to the volumes Mario Botta. Architetture 1960-1985, Milan 1985 (edited by F. Dal Co), Vivere l'Architettura / Living Architecture : The Architecture of Durisch+Nolli, Chicago 2000, to The Dictionary of Art, London 1990 and to the Schweizer Lexikon, Lucerne 1991. She is the author of Guida all'architettura del Novecento. Svizzera, Milan 1995-Basel 1997, La costruzione di un mito. Ticinesi d'Argentina: committenza e architettura 1850-1940, Mendrisio 1998 and the essay Cultura y proyecto urbano. La ciudad moderna (with A. Ballent and G. Silvestri), Buenos Aires 1993. She is at present a member of the editorial staff of the magazine Casabella.
