Depuis sa première exposition personnelle en 1992, Alain Bublex réinvente en permanence l'idée du voyage, plaçant la photographie au coeur de sa pratique plastique tout en la combinant au dessin.
Mais plus que le déplacement et le mouvement, c'est le paysage lui-même qui apparaît comme son principal sujet. Les États-Unis ont tenu une place particulière dans ce développement. Parti à la recherche de Glooscap (une ville imaginaire qui n'existe que par ses archives), il a sillonné le continent nord-américain le traversant d'est en ouest, du nord au sud, pour en revenir convaincu que les paysages ont joué un rôle primordial dans la constitution de la nation américaine.
Since his first solo exhibition in 1992, Alain Bublex has been constantly reinventing the idea of the journey, placing photography at the heart of his focus on the visual arts and blending it with drawing.
But more than travel and movement, it is the landscape itself that shines through as his main subject. The United States has held a special place in this development. Having gone in search of Glooscap (an imaginary city that exists only through its archives), he travelled the North American continent, crossing it from East to West, North to South, returning convinced that the landscapes played a key role in the formation of the American nation.
