Quatrième de couverture
An introduction to the grammar of Chrambo
An introduction to the grammar of Chrambo provides a description of some aspects of the grammar of Chrambo, a Bantoid language spoken in the North West region of Cameroon. After presenting an overview of the cultural and ethnic-history of the speakers, we equally presented an overview of the sound system of the language in chapter one. Chapter two focused on the description of the noun structure and morpho-syntactic relations. It also provided a discussion on how head-dependent relations and the general distinction between morphology and syntax are understood throughout the book. Chapter three described the simple and the complex noun phrases. Chapter four on its part dwelled on verb morphology and verb modalities. It is in this chapter that we covered tense aspects, mood and negation. Chapter five focused on multi verb construction and illustrated with ample examples how consecutive series and serial constructions are formed in the language. Chapter six explained the use of adverbs and adverbial constructions and also handled the various types of adverbial clauses. Chapter seven examined the structure of the sentence in the language. Chapter eight focused on question formation.
