Aspects of discourse analysis

Discourse Analysis is presented therein from different perspectives.

It is also applied to a variety of corpuses. For instance, from the perspective of translation, the way the translator apprehends the text is discussed. The text must not be translated mechanically but as an opportunity to convey the translator's self.

This self-conveyance is also noticeable through the locutor's management of examples in discourse. One can rightly pair music and language under the term of musical discourse because the music type reveals a great deal of information about its performer and by the same token particularized him.

The slogans of the telephone companies in Côte d'Ivoire are investigated too. Beyond advertisements, they are emanations of political discourse which is characterized by the quest for power. The message they convey, though different in forms, is unique semantically. To be the first is the quintessence but, that message is merely paraphrased from one company to another.

Discourse Analysis is so broad and so complex that an attempt to empty it would sound but pretentious. Only some of its linguistic manifestations are identified, described and explained. The key tool is interpretation, which is, taking into account the locutor who is seen as the center of that huge task.
