Michel Nuridsany was born in France in 1938. He has worked for many years as an art critic for Le Figaro and has contributed to France Culture, Art Press, Beaux-Arts Magazine, and Connaissance des Arts. He has written fifteen books including a biography of Andy Warhol and an anthology of poetry, and more than a hundred exhibition catalogs. He has organized exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, and Paris and was the French commissioner of the São Paulo biennial in 1985 and the Cairo and Alexandria biennial in 2001. Most recently, he served as advisor for the 2003 exhibition Alors, la Chine? at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Marc Domage has been a freelance photographer for more than a decade. He spent a month traveling around China with Michel Nuridsany taking the photographs for this book.
