Le Grand-Hornu en Belgique, complexe minier exceptionnel fondé en 1810 et représentatif de la révolution industrielle, se consacre désormais à la création contemporaine. Grâce au soutien de la Province de Hainaut, l'association sans but lucratif Grand-Hornu Images, en résidence sur le site depuis plus de deux décennies, a initié une collection réunissant de grands noms de la scène internationale du design, de l'Art nouveau à nos jours. Elle constitue la seule collection publique de design des XXe et XXIe siècles dans la partie francophone du pays et elle est offerte pour la première fois aux regards du public dans l'exposition « Collections | connections ».
Nowadays Grand-Hornu in Belgium, an old industrial mining complex founded in 1910 and a reminder of the Industrial Revolution, is dedicated to contemporary design. Thanks to the support of the Province of Hainaut, the non-profit-making organisation Grand-Hornu Images, located on the site since more than two decades, has initiated a collection that unites the big names on the international design scene, from art nouveau until today. This collection is the only public design collection of the 20th and 21st century in the French-speaking part of Belgium and can be viewed by the public in the exposition « Collections | Connections » for the first time.
