Epitome [I'pit.ə.mi], [i-'pi-tə-mē] : A summary of a written work, a book, a story ; more specifically, of history.
The Epitome collection was launched as a challenge. We asked leading specialists to explain the essence of a subject concerning Greece, from its origins until the present day. The collection enables the French School at Athens to synthesize its new research findings and promote its work among the widest possible audience.
This new collection with its short format is published simultaneously in English, French and Greek to provide lay readers with an understanding of current issues in Hellenic studies.
Hélène Brun-Kyriakidis is a former member of the French School at Athens and teaches Greek art history at the Sorbonne University (Paris). Her research focuses on religious practices on Delos. She is currently working on a volume of the Exploration archéologique de Délos (Archaeological Exploration of Delos) devoted to the publication of the Sarapieia.
