This book sheds light on the Universal Postal Union's place in the history of global communications, since its foundation in 1874. More than 20 international contributors help us to understand how postal networks get to form the largest planetary physical infrastructure in history, channeling the bulk of information, money and light goods flows across the borders until the end of the 20^th century, and collectively facing the challenges of digitization, competition and decarbonization since the beginning of the 21^st century.
