Fidèle à ses objectifs, L'Ouest saharien poursuit dans ce troisième volume sa démarche pluridisciplinaire. Cette collection veut appréhender l'espace saharien sur la longue durée et dans ses diverses dimensions, le considérer comme un espace culturel original étroitement relié aux espaces voisins, et contribuer à fournir aux chercheurs les outils indispensables à leurs études, notamment bibliographiques. L'archéologie ou la politique territoriale rejoignent ici la géopolitique ou le droit musulman, exemples des liens existant entre l'espace saharien et l'extérieur. Ces «fragments» présentent aussi un tableau passionnant de la jurisprudence maure reliée à celle du monde musulman, et montrent, à travers l'action géopolitique algérienne ou l'évolution du conflit du Sahara Occidental, combien les liens politiques et stratégiques sont forts à travers le Sahara. Une critique historique du phénomène des «littératures sahariennes» complète le volume, alors que l'étude des guides bibliographiques du Sahara occidental précise le lien entre leur élaboration et les projets géopolitiques. De nombreux comptes-rendus d'ouvrages récents terminent le volume.
Loyal to its objectives, «The Western Sahara» pursues in this third volume its multidisciplinary approach. This collection tries to apprehend Saharan space on a long term basis and in its different dimensions as well, to consider it as an original cultural space closely linked to neighbouring spaces, and to contribute in giving researchers the tools essential for their studies, particularly bibliographical ones. Here archaeology or territorial politics meet with geopolitics or Moslem law as examples of the links existing between the Saharan space and outside. These «fragments» present also a fascinating picture of Moorish jurisprudence connected to the Moslem world and show, through Algerian geopolitical activity or the development of the Western Sahara conflict, how political and strategic ties are strong through the Sahara. An historical critique of the phenomenon of «Saharan literature» completes this volume, while the study of bibliographical guides of Western Sahara clarifies the relation between compiling them and geopolitical projects. Many book-reviews of recent works end the volume.
