Le soleil inonde les récents tableaux de Laurent Proux réalisés à la Casa de Velázquez. On imagine que le climat madrilène n'est pas étranger à ce coup de soleil qui donne un tour nouveau à son art. Ses grandes peintures jouent d'intensités naturellement contradictoires. La lumière y ruisselle, baigne toute chose d'une aura ou, au contraire, incise ombres et figures.

Laurent Proux's recent paintings, created at the Casa de Velázquez, are flooded with sunlight. Madrid's climate is obviously no stranger to the sunburned element that has given a new twist to his art. Proux's large-format paintings play on naturally contradictory levels of intensity. Light cascades through them, bathing everything in its aura, or on the contrary, carving out shadows and figures.
