Cette publication a été réalisée dans le cadre du quarantième anniversaire de l'inauguration du Théâtre de plein air de Saint-Gilles, organisé par le Conseil Général de La Réunion.
Les recherches ont été menées par les enseignants et étudiants de deuxième année (2010-2011) de l'antenne réunionnaise de l'École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Montpellier en collaboration étroite avec les responsables des éditions de l'Espérou et a donné lieu à une campagne photographique de François-Louis Athénas.
Cette étude restitue l'histoire de la création du théâtre de plein air de Saint-Gilles dans la carrière de son concepteur Jean Tribel et du groupe de recherche sur le théâtre contemporain qu'il a initié à l'Atelier d'Urbanisme et d'Architecture dont il est l'un des membres fondateurs.
This book was issued for the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the inauguration of the open air Theater of Saint-Gilles, under the impulse of the General Council of Reunion Island.
The research was carried out by the teachers and second year students (academic year 2010-2011) of the Reunion section of the Higher National School of Architecture at montpellier, in close collaboration with the publishing house Espérou. The photographs were taken by François-Louis Athenas.
The document traces the history of the construction of the open air theater of Saint-Gilles, situating it within the career of its architect and designer Jean Tribel and the research group of contemporary theatre he set up within the Town Planning and Architecture Workshop, of wich he is one of the founder members.
