Stretching from Menton to Marseille, the Côte d'Azur has inspired photographers, from the early days of the medium to the present day. A colourful, seductive paradise, it has long been a place to see and be seen. From early pioneer Charles Nègre in Grasse, Germaine Krull in Marseilles, Lee Miller in Mougins to Helmut Newton's wild fashion shoots in Monaco : each new generation of photographers has produced extraordinary images. Together they chart both the history of the medium and the development of the region over the past 150 years.
