There are few events in human history that leave a wound as deep and as lasting as a civil war. Literary journalism has proven over time to be one of the best ways to address the moral ambivalence of reporting on these events. It is not enough to position yourself on one side or another because sometimes we do not even know who the enemy is. The reportage genre show's ways in which these questions can be answered, through a subjective and immersive style that accounts for all the faces of the conflict. Throughout the 19th, 20th and 21th centuries, there have been numerous authors who used literary journalism to document these conflicts : Santiago Masferrer i Cantó, Manuel Chaves Nogales, Mário Neves, Peter Wellington Alexander, Martha Gellhorn, Hilde Marchant, Scott Anderson and Joe Sacco. The vision that these authors project shows the ability of literary journalism to portray the best and worst of human nature.
Hay pocos acontecimientos en la historia humana que dejen una herida tan profunda y duradera como una guerra civil. El periodismo literario ha probado a lo largo del tiempo ser una de las mejores formas de abordar la ambivalencia moral de informar sobre estos acontecimientos. No es suficiente con parapetarse bajo la objetividad periodística, porque la realidad es mucho más compleja. El género del reportaje, una de las mejores plataformas para ejercer el periodismo literario, muestra la forma en la que pueden responderse a estas cuestiones, a través de un estilo subjetivo e inmersivo que de cuenta de todas las caras de la contienda. A lo largo del siglo XIX, XX y XIX son numerosos los autores que han utilizado al periodismo literario para contar qué ocurría en estos conflictos : Santiago Masferrer i Cantó, Manuel Chaves Nogales, Mário Neves, Peter Wellington Alexander, Martha Gellhorn, Hilde Marchant, Scott Anderson y Joe Sacco. La visión que proyectan estos autores muestra la capacidad que tiene el periodismo literario para retratar lo mejor y lo peor del ser humano.
