«Il y a cet homme, là, debout très droit, qui me regarde. Vous regarde. Un homme comme vous, comme moi, et, sans aucun doute aussi, comme le photographe Yves Pitchen. Il est clair, en tout cas, que ce dernier l'a senti, il s'est reconnu en cet homme. Et il a également reconnu en lui vous et moi. Autrement dit, il a vu en cet homme toute la complexité de l'être humain - - sa grandeur et son humilité. L'homme regarde l'objectif derrière lequel se tient Yves, livrant dans le même temps tout ce qu'il est. Ce qu'il est et ce qu'il possède. L'être et l'avoir. L'être... Yves Pitchen est né en 1949, à Lubumbashi - Congo (ex Congo belge), de mère belge et de père mauricien. Il étudie la photographie à Bruxelles. À la fin des années 70, il part s'installer sur la terre de ses ancêtres, l'île Maurice où, depuis plus de vingt-cinq ans, il trace le portrait d'une population multiculturelle qui fait la richesse de cette île. Y. P. a participé à de nombreuses missions, expositions et catalogues. Il a été invité à la première Biennale de photographie africaine, à Bamako, en 1994. Ses photographies ont été exposées, entre autres, au Centre culturel Charles Baudelaire de Rose-Hill, au Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles de Paris, au Smithsonian Institute de Washington, au Centre culturel franco-japonais de Tokyo.
Marie-Thérèse Humbert est née à l'Ile Maurice. Diplômée des Universités de Cambridge et de la Sorbonne, elle est établie en France depuis 1970. Elle a publié chez Stock huit romans, tous également parus en poche, dont A l'autre bout de moi (Grand Prix littéraire des Lectrices de Elle 1979), Un Fils d'Orage (Prix Terre de France 1992), La Montagne des Signaux, Le Chant du Seringat la Nuit. Elle a publié également un essai sur Balzac (Editions Christian Pirot), divers poèmes et nouvelles.
Yves Pitchen was born in 1949 in Lubumbashi, Congo (anciently Belgian Congo) from a Belgian mother and a Mauritian father. He studied photography in Brussels. At the end of the seventies, he left Europe to settle in the land of his ancestors, Mauritius, where, for more than 25 years now, he has been portraying this multicultural population, this island's treasure. Yves Pitchen has taken part in missions, exhibitions and catalogues. He has been invited to the first African Photographic Biennial (Bamako, 1994). His pictures have been exhibited, among others, at the Centre Culturel Charles Baudelaire (Rose-Hill), the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles (Paris), the Smithsonian Institute (Washington) and the Centre Culturel Franco-japonais (Tokyo).

She has published eight novels (Stock edition), all also edited in paperback, among which A l'autre bout de moi (Grand Prix littéraire des Lectrices de Elle 1979), Un Fils d'Orage (Prix Terre de France 1992), La Montagne des Signaux, Le Chant du Seringat la Nuit. She has also published an essay on Balzac (Editions Christian Pirot), several poems and short stories.
