Les paysages peuvent-ils témoigner des violences du passé ? Gardent-ils les traces des événements dont ils ont été la scène ? Au contraire, les effacent-ils ? Et si cette mémoire, visible ou enfouie, y est à l'oeuvre, comment s'en approcher ? Ce numéro spécial présente des oeuvres d'artistes et de chercheurs qui ont arpenté des lieux chargés d'histoire. Ils tentent d'en interroger le passé par-delà les silences et les disparitions qui y sont inscrits.
Landscapes of Memory
Do landscapes bear witness of violence of the past ? Do they retain traces of events which took place there ? Or, conversely, do they absorb them ? If the memory, visible or buried, is working within the landscape, how can we approach it ? This special issue of Memories at Stake will present the works of artists and researchers who crossed through these places filled with history. It tries to interrogate their past beyond the silence and the disappearance of the traces of violence.
