Si Lyon rayonne par sa gastronomie et son patrimoine, ses espaces verts restent souvent méconnus. Et pourtant... il suffit de faire quelques pas à travers la ville, laisser aller son regard, pour s'apercevoir que Lyon offre des coins de verdure qui, parfois, apparaissent là où on ne les attendait pas. Ce livre nous conduit dans une balade poétique au parc de la Tête d'Or ou le long des berges du Rhône; il nous invite dans des lieux méconnus comme le jardin privé de la Bonne Maison ou le jardin du site gallo-romain et nous fait découvrir, au hasard des rues et des quartiers, des espaces arborés et fleuris. Au travers de photos parfois surprenantes, le jardin est présent et s'affirme dans toute sa splendeur et sous toutes ses formes: paysager ou potager, géométrique ou sauvage, insoupçonnable ou imposant, collectif, sportif... De quoi en étonner plus d'un!
Although Lyon is renowned for its gastronomy and heritage, its parks and gardens are often little-known. Yet... let your eyes wander during a short walk through the city, this is enough to realize that Lyon offers spots of greenery which occasionally spring up where we don't expect them. This book takes us on a poetical walk in the Tête d'Or Park or along the Rhone embankments. It invites us to unknown spots such as the private Bonne Maison or the Gallo-Roman garden, leads us to discover wooded areas and spaces full of flowers. We come across these by chance, walking down streets or through neighbourhoods.
The Garden is very present in the sometimes surprising photographs, asserting itself in its many splendours and forms: landscaped, vegetable, geometrical or wild, impossible to find or impressive, for local communities or sports... Here's something to surprise us all
Frédéric Jean est diplômé de l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Lyon. Depuis, il a parcouru le monde et des milliers de photos témoignent de ses multiples périples.
En 1995, il a ouvert au coeur du quartier Saint-Jean un studio-laboratoire-galerie, où il présente un ensemble d'expositions thématiques et de photographies de Lyon.
Parallèlement et depuis longtemps, il travaille comme photographe de spectacles pour de nombreuses institutions et festivals.
Philippe Vouillon est ingénieur agricole, journaliste et auteur de guides de voyage et de randonnée (Alpes Magazine, Gallimard, Chamina, Fédération française de randonnée, Trek). Il est passionné par la nature et le patrimoine de Lyon et de Rhône-Alpes, les montagnes d'ici et d'Asie centrale.
Frédéric Jean holds a diploma from the City of Lyon Art College. Since then, he has travelled the world and thousands of photographs are witness to his numerous journeys. He opened a studio/laboratory/gallery in the heart of the Saint Jean district in 1995, where he presents a series of theme exhibitions and photographs concerning Lyon. For many years, he has simultaneously worked as photographer of the performing arts and shows for numerous institutions and festivals.
Philippe Vouillon is an agricultural engineer, journalist and the author of travel and hiking guides (Alpes Magazine, Gallimard, Chamina, French Hiking Federation, and Trek).
He is fascinated by nature and the heritage of Lyon and the Rhone-Alps region, and by local and Central Asian mountains.
