De toutes les villes dévastées par la guerre de 1914-1918 Saint-Quentin est de celles dont la reconstruction fut le plus heureusement marquée par l'Art déco. Tout comme Reims, Soissons, Cambrai ou Béthune elle assura la souveraineté de ce style aux mille et une facettes avant même l'Exposition parisienne qui, en 1925, le fit rayonner. Of all the towns devastated by the 1914-1918 war, Saint-Quentin is one of those whose reconstruction was the most happily influenced by Art Deco. Just like Reims, Soissons, Cambrai and Béthune, it ensured the supremacy of this multi-faceted style even before the Paris Exhibition which raised its influence to the heights in 1925. Saint-Quentin bears witness to this clear, intelligent art, èlegant to the point of refinement, cultivating happiness and gaiety, with its love of ornament yet sensitive to simplicity - in fact very classical and very French - through its facades and interiors and through its Antoine Lécuyer museum, which has inherited a collection built up during the Roaring Twenties.
