The essential evidence provided by the major clinical trials constitutes the basis for modern treatment of cardiovascular disease. To extract the essential findings and to make them more accessible to the greatest number, the authors have organized, clarified and precisely and concisely summarized these trials to help the practitioner keep up to date with progress in cardiology, revise certain facts previously considered to be definitively acquired and, most importantly, make well informed treatment decisions which, more than ever, must be evidence-based.
Robert Haïat and Gérard Leroy, cardiologists at St-Germain-en-Laye hospital, are the authors of a number of books on Major Clinical Trials in Cardiovascular Therapeutics, awarded the Académie Nationale de Médecine prize in 1997.
This monograph is sponsored by the Société Française de Cardiologie (Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Working Group). Robert Haïat was President of the Société Française de Cardiologie in 1999.
