Quatrième de couverture

Over the past few years, African countries have been driven by the ambition of achieving emergence : the indispensable condition to fulfil their human, economic and environmental potential. This ambition, however, faces major challenges, including the fight against poverty and inequality, the realisation of growth which creates wealth and productive jobs as well as the structural transformation of modes of production and consumption working towards sustainable development.

The present work, published with the support of the UNDP, the World Bank and the African Development Bank, outlines the continent's current experiences in terms of implementation of plans for emergence as well as the conditions for structural transformation, the valorisation of human capital and best practices which contribute to the success of the African emergence challenge.

This book, which was co-written by high-ranking officials of African public administrations and experienced United Nations System practitioners, advocates an integrated approach capable of promoting inclusive development strategies.
