Sous le nom Suzy Embo (BE °1936) se cache un témoin privilégié de la scène artistique avant-gardiste de l'après- guerre. « Artiste photographe » et « photographe d'artistes », Embo vit dans l'amitié de Pierre Alechinsky et l'intimité de Reinhoud d'Haese. Outre son travail personnel, qui l'associe à la Subjektive Fotografie, elle réalisera des portraits informels d'artistes de la scène internationale, pris sur le vif ou saisis au coeur de leur processus créatif : Karel Appel, Brassaï, André Breton, Pol Bury, Christian Dotremont, Corneille Hannoset et tant d'autres. Suzy Embo (BE °1936) is not just an artist and photographer - she was a first-hand witness of the postwar avant-garde art scene. A « photographic artist » and « photographer of artists », Embo was a friend of Pierre Alechinsky and was Reinhoud d'Haese's wife. In addition to her personal work, through which she became associated with the Subjektive Fotografie movement, she produced informal portraits of artists on the international art scene-photographs taken spontaneously or while they were engaged in their creative work : Karel Appel, Brassaï, André Breton, Pol Bury, Christian Dotremont, Corneille Hannoset, and many others. Achter de naam Suzy Embo (BE °1936) schuilt een bevoorrechte getuige van de naoorlogse avant-gardekunstwereld. Als artiste photographe en photographe d'artistes leeft Embo samen met haar echtgenoot Reinhoud d'Haese en hun gemeenschappelijke vriend Pierre Alechinsky. Naast haar persoonlijk werk, dat verwant is met de Subjektive Fotografie, maakt ze informele portretten van kunstenaars uit de internationale scene, spontaan vastgelegd of gefotografeerd midden in hun creatieve proces : Karei Appel, Brassaï, André Breton, Pol Bury, Christian Dotremont, Corneille Hannoset en tal van anderen.
