Quatrième de couverture

The Corrèze

The Tulle Area

Although the Corrèze takes its time to cross Tulle and the Vézère, in order to go around Uzerche, the same cannot be said for all the rivers and streams which criss-cross the area, hollowing out picturesque valleys filled with shadow. Rushing down in waterfalls or snoozing in ponds, water has shaped the plateaux of this region, huddling between the Limousin Mountain and Brive Basin. The Tulle Area puts everything together to attract fans of « old stone », of quiet and countryside, unusual landscapes like Brézou marshes, Blanchefort Forest in Lagraulière or Vuillier Park in Gimel.

And if the visitor cannot escape the charm of the remarkable religious buildings in Tulle, Uzerche or Gimel, they can no less circumvent the pleasure of discovering the mosaic of villages and hamlets hidden between woods and fields.

And there the visitor will discover a framework of buildings made up of 12th century churches, farms, barns, mills and fountains with « magical properties ». Rich in diversity and with a stirring history, it is ot great interest and is a integral part of the architectural heritage of the Tulle area.
