The guideto 101 legendary places that have inspired the greatest films

Brought into the limelight in the films of the greatest directors, each of these places has, above all, its own history, authenticity and character. Indeed, whether it was a case of love at first sight or a true source of inspiration, none of the atmospheric places was chosen randomly.

Exploring the city quartier by quartier, and using photographs, Beatrice Billon and Barbara Boespflug have identified the best bars, restaurants, hotels, shops, galleries and theatres that have been picked as immortal film locations, and share with us in this incomparable guide their top tips and anecdotes to help you discover the charm of Film Lover's Paris.

Paris and cinema

Cinema and Paris. A love story. Two words that go so well together... The title of this book, The Film Lover's Paris, could hardly illustrate it better. Since 2001, the City of Paris's proactive policy in favour of the cinema has transformed the Parisian cultural scene.

With its network of cinema among the most extensive in the world, film-going has become a favourite occupation of Parisians and, more broadly, of those living in the Île-de-France region. In order to preserve the diversity of cinemas, while ensuring a balance of films screened in each area, the City of Paris is committed to supporting arthouse and independant cinemas, whose economy is often fragile.

Finally, with thousands of film shoots taking place in the capital every year, and thanks to the ongoing support of the Mission Cinéma, the decor of Paris poses for the camera, without artifice, for short as well as feature-length films created all over the world. This book will be your guide for walks and other novel tours but most especially for exploring behind the scenes of the Paris of the cinema.

Deputy Mayor of Paris for Culture
