In-Vehicle Information Systems (IVIS) provide drivers with various functions and services, both not related to driving or related to the trip management. Authors reviewed existing knowledge on IVIS effects on driver behaviour and road safety. A focus is made on three driver populations: novice, elderly and professional drivers which present a specific issue for IVIS use. Finally, the literature review is discussed to highlight missing knowledge.
This work has been carried out in the framework of the COST Action 352.
