Epitome [I'pit.ə.mi], [i-'pi-tə-mē] : A summary of a written work, a book, a story ; more specifically, of history.
The Epitome collection was launched as a challenge. We asked leading specialists to explain the essence of a subject concerning Greece, from its origins until the present day. The collection enables the French School at Athens to synthesize its new research findings and promote its work among the widest possible audience.
This new collection with its short format is published simultaneously in English, French and Greek to provide lay readers with an understanding of current issues in Hellenic studies.
Claire Hasenohr, a former member of the French School at Athens, is a senior lecturer in ancient history at Bordeaux Montaigne University. Her research relates to the history and archaeology of Hellenistic Delos. She is the author of a dozen papers on the Italians of Delos and is currently preparing the publication of the Agora of the Competaliasts and its surroundings in the EAD collection.
