Quatrième de couverture

"The Olympic Games adventure was worthy of a great museum ! The Museum in Lausanne highlights the heritage of the Olympic Movement, its history, its constant efforts to promote the development of sport and its alliance with art and culture. Nowhere else can experts and researchers, as well as the general public, find so much information, so many pictures, documents and exhibits. Since the Museum opened in June 1993, almost two million visitors have passed through its doors. We welcome you and sincerely hope that your visit to the Museum and its exhibitions will provide you with unforgettable memories : that would be the greatest reward we could hope for !"

"We all firmly believe that the Olympic Museum should be more than just a museum. And we think we have achieved that objective. The Olympic Movement wished to make this open, living area into a meeting point where the age-old history of the Games, avant-garde artistic events and research could all be united under one roof. It wanted to keep within its walls the memories and souvenirs of the last century of Olympism, while at the same time looking for innovation and speaking the language of today - a language which young people can identify with. Sport, art and culture : these three words sum up perfectly the mission entrusted to this jewel that sits on the shores of Lake Geneva."
