We others

They are barely twenty years old and stare defiantly into the camera. A quick hop over the windowsill of the living room and they appear out on the steel grating outside this small apartment in Alphabet City in New York. They have short hair, they wear T-shirts, men's shirts, jeans fastened with leather belts. They are in the full, radiant flush of youth. But they never take photos of themselves in the street.
