Un match en 10 rounds. Une édition qui restera dans les annales. Car si, dans la catégorie supérieure, Biagi-Bobbi ont mené d'un bout à l'autre, ils n'ont pourtant pas eu le moindre répit. Régulièrement dominé aux essais, l'équipage vedette de la BMS Scuderia Italia a dû se battre non-stop contre des adversaires de plus en plus affûtés : les Saleens redoutables en performances pures, les Viper toujours aussi alertes en dépit de leur « grand âge », et, bien sûr, les Lister qui ne s'avouent jamais vaincues ! En N-GT, il a fallu attendre Monza, dernier rendez-vous de la saison, pour connaître les champions. Dans cette division, d'avril à octobre, quatre écuries - Freisinger, EMKA, JMB et Maranello Concessionaires - se sont livrées une lutte acharnée. Pas de temps morts. D'admirables autos. Des circuits variés et sélectifs. Une épreuve de 24 heures absolument dantesque... La voilà, la recette du succès.
A ten-round fight. A season that will go down in history. Although Bobbi and Biagi dominated from start to finish, they were not given the slightest respite ! Rarely the fastest during practice, they had to contend with rivals who were themselves growing sharper and stronger as the season progressed : the sheer performance of the formidable Saleens, the Vipers, still dangerous despite their advancing age, without forgetting the Lister Storms, which never, ever give up. In the N-GT category, the Champions were only decided after the final round. From April until October, four teams - Freisinger, EMKA, JMB and Team Maranello Concessionaires - fought a pitched battle, with never a dull moment. Tremendous cars. Varied, challenging tracks. The sheer purgatory of a gruelling 24-hour event. In fact all the ingredients for a true success story !

¤ Journaliste depuis 1977 et directeur éditorial chez Apach Publishing, il est l'auteur d'une trentaine de livres. Cinéma, bande dessinée, musique, moto, aéronautique,... la palette est large, mais c'est dans le sport automobile qu'il s'est fait connaître, avec notamment une biographie de Jacky Ickx et un ouvrage très documenté sur l'écurie ORECA. Pour la 2e année consécutive, Denis Asselberghs coordonne l'annuel du Championnat FIA GT.
