Beaune
At the heart of Beaune stands the flamboyant Hôtel-Dieu, a masterpiece dating from the 15th century. More than just a decorative building, this is a charitable institution that is over five hundred years old.
It produces rare wines, the income from which is paid over to the hospital.
Beaune is just like the Hôtel-Dieu : fascinating and full of light. History gave it its bell towers, its belfry and its bastions. Nowadays, it is a lively town of markets, processions and encounters. Come and discover this unique combination of fine architecture and the art of living well.
Jean-Philippe Lecat
was born in Burgundy. He represented the region of Beaune in the French parliament. He has praised the « Burgundy dream » in a number of historical books and a European television series.
He was once French Minister of Culture and a Grand Officier of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
