Laurent Gotti
Journalist and wine taster, Laurent Gotti discovered the wine world when he covered the Hospices de Beaune wine auction in 1997. He has lived in Burgundy since 2000 and passed a professional Certificate in sensorial analysis. He contributes to several magazines (the Hachette Guide book. En Magnum, the Revue des vins de France, Sommeliers International). He shares his discoveries with the students of Inseec Business School and frequently organizes tasting workshops (A Portée de Vins). He has also made vineyard maps of great Burgundian terroirs.
He wrote several books :

  • Hospices de Beaune, La saga d'un Hôpital Vigneron (Editions Ferret, 2009)
  • Les gouttes de Dieu, le guide des Vins (Editions Glenat, 2018) with Jacques Dupont, Sébastien Durand-Viel and David Cobbold
  • Les Vins de France, (Editions Gisserot, 2019)
  • Le Clos de Vougeot, L'Âme du Vignoble Bourguignon (Editions Dunod, 2021) with Jean-François Bazin.

Sylvain Pitiot
After training as a topography and cartography engineer, Sylvain Pitiot turned to viticulture as he worked during the harvest in Meursault, where he met his wife Valérie Poupon. Working successively as a vigneron on the Hospices de Beaune Domain, vineyard manager, consultant, teacher, he finally became a wine estate manager. He ran a Côte de Nuits Grand Cru Domain for twenty years. He is presently a wine consultant in France and abroad. He is also co-author with Pierre Poupon of the Atlas des Grands Vignobles de Bourgogne (Collection Pierre Poupon, 1985 and 1999) and published wall maps of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits (Sepia, Art & Cartographie, 10th edition, 2022) and the Côte Chalonnaise (Atlas Bourgogne, second edition, 2019). He has recently published, with Marie-Hélène Landrieu-Lussigny, Climats et Lieux-dits des grands vignobles de Bourgogne (Editions du Meurger, 3rd French edition, 2019 - 3rd English edition, 2023) and La Côte Chalonnaise (bi-lingual French-English book. Editions du Meurger, 2018).
He also created with Pierre Cohen-Tanugi, the ClimaVinea digital application (2015 and 2023), including a selection of Domaines et Maisons, an Encyclopaedia and detailed maps of the Climats de Bourgogne, registered on the World Heritage list of UNESCO.

Pierre Poupon (1917-2009)
Pierre Poupon started his career as manager of his wife's Domain in Meursault, then he became a wine négociant in Beaune, he also dedicated his whole life to reading and writing, as the Latin saying goes : 'Nulla dies sine linea' (not a single day without writing a line). With his clear and precise style and his sensitivity, he took advantage of his knowledge of the terroirs and his passion for tasting to present the wines of Burgundy as objets d'art. With his friend Pierre Forgeot, he wrote the first ten editions of this book which was published for the first time in 1952.
